I stayed up until midnight last night to bake two loaves so Nick would have some for his breakfast. I am ever so grateful that we still have apples from last fall in our freezer!
Freezing apples is the easiest thing for me to do with the kids. I use an apple peeler/corer/slicer that I bought from Pampered Chef to make apple slices. We pack 1 lb. of slices in a quart sized freezer bag. They go right into the freezer just like that. You could add Fruit Fresh dissolved in water to help with the color, but I don't do that. I use the whole bag - which does get a bit watery when it's defrosted, but that just makes for a moister end product - to make 2 loaves.
You'll have to give me your recipe. Our apple trees in the back yard are full and I'm hoping for a bumper crop this fall.
ReplyDeleteI actually got it from a friend. I'll ask her if I can publish it here. Everybody I've given it to loves it!
DeleteApples in your freezer - how did you prepare them to go in there?
