End of the Mother/Daughter Trip...Visiting the Betsy & Tacy Houses - Mankato, MN
I also recognized a fellow blogger, Tracy from Pinewood Castle. She was camping nearby with her family. They stopped to tour the Betsy & Tacy Houses. Our kids met, and we moms had a pic snapped of us.:)
Funny, Funny Jane...who wanted to come inside!
Pre-4th of July & 4th of July Fun....
|Camping in the Backyard|
What happens when you put work before fun...well, it turned out to be fun, too.:)
Books we are now reading...
The Treasure Seekers - E. Nesbit
Jack and Jill - Louisa May Alcott
Five Little Peppers and How They Grew - Margaret Sidney
I love reading aloud to the kids, and they seem to love it, too.
More Projects...Gardening & Small Animals
We are also looking into Mel Bartholomew's Square Foot Gardening Method. We are excited to regrade the backyard and tear out a lot of plants to prepare for two gardens...a 4 foot X 4 foot and a 3 foot X 3 foot...for next year. We had looked into raised beds but were led to the square foot garden. Another upcoming project we are looking into as well is acquiring chickens. I feel like our menagerie would only be complete with a few hens and a rooster. Urban farming is quite popular in the Twin Cities so we are looking into permits, cost, and upkeep. The kids are so excited. Daddy is on board, and I am making the necessary calls. There will definitely be more on this later.:)
Sewing Projects & Parties
We also have a ramp up in sewing projects coming around the bend with costumes for the upcoming play and another quilt project. Soccer is waning, and Daddy's 50th birthday is also coming up! I should get those plans for his party finished up, but I've been dragging my feet. Plus, the kids just reminded me that this year Monica has her "silver" birthday as opposed to her "golden" birthday. I guess the silver birthday is when you reverse the numbers of your birthdate. Monica was born on the 21st of August (her golden birthday will be when she turns 21) so her silver birthday is when she turns 12. I'm so glad I know these things now (eye roll!). Oh, well....there's no rest for the wicked!
