Shedding Some Light...

on the subject of prayer, I have been following Daria Sockey's articles at Faith & Family Live regarding praying the Divine Office/Christian Prayer/The Liturgy of the Hours.  She has very wonderful insight and passed along some helpful tips for those of us who struggle with taking something of this magnitude on as a Lenten resolution.  It is something we've wanted to do for a long time, but there's always been something to keep us from that goal.  I know there are really no excuses for praying with your spouse, but let's just say I want to look forward instead of dwelling on the past!  Here are some links that have been proven to be quite helpful in preparation for our Lenten journey.  I hope you can find them of some use to you!

  • For praying the Divine Office....handy help with ribbon placement for both the new and older versions of Christian Prayer.  You can even read/pray right from your computer screen.
  • Universalis - yet another site for help in praying the Divine Office
  • Mea Culpa Iphone app. for help with making an examination of conscience.  This breaks up sins into venial and mortal and catalogues them for your trip to the confessional.:)
  • Evangelizo Iphone app. is great for the daily readings and includes a daily meditation similar to Magnificat.  Today's is from The Holy Father!
Let's keep praying for each other!

Sanctify yourself and you will sanctify society.
-St. Francis of Assisi
