is somewhat in stall mode. Daddy was able to make the "rink rake" and give Lucas a lesson in the different thicknesses of PVC pipe. They love going to Home Depot together! We hit our first obstacle after the hose didn't fit the pipe connection.:( So, it was back to Home Depot for a different fitting and a shut-off valve to regulate the outpouring of water. Meanwhile, our hose is in threat of freezing since we have it outside. Obstacle 2 has been the holidays. We had so many other things going on that making ice at 11PM at night wasn't hot on the list of priorities. Obstacle 3 is now the weather. We will be experiencing our January thaw this weekend...temps in the upper 20's and 30's...which is not good for making ice.
I can't believe I, of all people, am wishing for sub-zero temps with wind for ice making. However, the thought of little ones skating in the backyard is quite fun!
Now the Canadians, they know what they're doing. I checked out some home ice rinks on You Tube and they have all kinds of things to make their ice and maintain it. Then again, there's serious hockey being played up there!! We're just goofing off!!:)
More later with pics, too!
